Important Rule Change
Just a reminder the Joe Pierce Memorial Derby
is this weekend.
IMPORTANT RULE CHANGE....EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
52 inch min length OR
32 lb min weight to be eligible for registration
(was
50 inch or 30 lbs)
Please pass
the word around about this rule change. We do not want to see fish run to
the scales, unnecessarily.
The change in the size limit requirement for registration, was
based on factual data, collected by the MOMC since 1990. (the past 20
seasons)
During the last 12 MOMC monthly tournaments (2008-2010), a muskie weighing
less than 32lbs, has not placed in the Top 3, in
ANY of these tournaments.
A muskie weighing less than 32lbs, has not placed in the Year End "Top 5"
since 1997, and only two muskie weighing less than 32lbs, have placed since
1991.
Our fishery has changed, we as an organization, need to change with it.
The fishery change was a direct result of the 50 inch or 30lb requirement
set forth in 2000, and increased participation in CPR.
An increase to 52 inch or 32lb minimum, should only benefit our fishery, and
allow everyone to land larger muskies.
